Our AI Statement
Understanding Artificial Intelligence in your job application – best practice and permitted use.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Generative AI (GenAI) tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Gemini etc; are powerful tools that can help you in various stages of your job application. It’s important to see them as a supplement to your skills, experiences, and potential – not as a replacement.
At NHSR we acknowledge that Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools can support candidates during job application and assessment. It can be valuable for generating ideas, improving grammar, formatting or helping candidates articulate their skills effectively. However, when using AI platforms, it is essential that they still ensure their application is genuine, personal and an accurate representation of their skills and experience.
With this in mind, we strongly encourage candidates to personally review AI-generated content to ensure it is genuine and reflective of their experiences and skills.
Acceptable Use of AI
Idea Development: rephrase, refine, clarify and improve readability of your ideas and experiences, structure ideas
Research: research and explore NHS Resolution as a business and our key areas of priorities, business delivery and projects, public initiatives and industry/profession trends, to relate to personal experiences
Proofreading: check spelling, grammar and conciseness – readability and impact
Interview Preparation: conduct mock interviews for anticipated questions
Unacceptable Use of AI
Misrepresentation: Please do not exaggerate or inflate skills and experiences or add false accomplishments
Copy-Pasting: Please do not use AI responses without modifications – e.g. copy and paste with editing
Assessment Assistance: Please do not complete tests designed to evaluate personality and natural abilities such as situational judgement tests. We consider this cheating.
Sensitive Information: Please do not input confidential NHSR data providing the AI with organisation’s sensitive data – while it may be used to strengthen the example, do not input data such as figures
Live Interviews: Please do not use AI-generated answers during interviews - this is the candidates time to shine - read the job description, think about where your experience will really enhance your examples.
Final thoughts for candidates
We value authenticity. If you want your application to stand out, using a generic AI-generated response isn’t going to separate you from the crowd, even if it promises to personalise the response. Interviews are designed to probe deeper into your skills and experiences, so this will give us a clear indication of whether the application matches the real person at interview, or if it’s something AI has fabricated.
The goal of using AI in your job application is to enhance your written application and showcase your best self. It’s not about creating a persona that isn’t you.
Remember – while evidence such as figures will help strengthen your examples, this information may be sensitive. If you’re using AI to enhance your narrative, remove these figures first and put them back in once you have finished using AI.
