We are pleased to offer trainees a new pathway into clinical negligence through our Junior Case Manager Trainee role (AfC Band 5) and the JCM Academy Development Programme at NHS Resolution.
This 23‑month Junior Case Manager (JCM) (AfC Band 5) traineeship provides structured on‑the‑job training and mechanisms for confirming competency. Successful completion of the programme will enable progression to interview for a Case Manager role (AfC Band 7).

Following successful completion of the JCM Training Programme of Development, you will have an opportunity to progress and be interviewed for the role of Clinical Case Manager (AfC Band 7) and continue your career with NHS Resolution.

What you'll be doing
- You will be placed onto the JCM Trainee Training Programme of Development (Academy)
- You will learn day-to-day management of clinical claims cases, from initial client contact to resolution.
- You will develop your analytical skills by researching and learning about legal precedents, statutes, and regulations that impact our cases.
- You will build your communication skills by interacting with clients and members, understanding their needs, and providing exceptional service.
- You will gain practical experience by performing essential administrative tasks that keep our claims management operations running smoothly.
- You will work closely with claims managers, claims colleagues, trainers and NHS Resolution colleagues, learning from their expertise and receiving coaching and mentorship that will enhance your understanding of the legal landscape.
What you'll bring
- Degree (or equivalent relevant experience)
- English and Maths at Level 2 (GCSE grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Keen attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Experience of working in a regulated or governance-driven environment (e.g., NHS, legal, insurance, public sector, complaints, investigations, financial services) and understanding the importance of compliance and process.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including producing clear, concise and professional written documentation.
- Understanding of workplace confidentiality (particularly within the NHS) and ability to handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Intermediate IT skills (Microsoft applications) and confidence learning case management systems and/or bespoke databases.
- A proactive and enthusiastic attitude with a keen interest in pursuing a career in clinical negligence practice and commitment to professional and personal development and consolidation study/learning time.

About us
